IT IS PART OF PLAN TO UPGRADE SERVICES
The Public Transport Agency at the Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has released a new map of public bus routes, including several changes to the old routes to match the demographic and urban growth.
The new map will make commuting on public buses much easier and is viewed as an integral part of the Master Bus Plan covering most urban areas. Mohammad Obaid Al Mulla, CEO of the Public Transport Agency, said: “This initiative stems out of the keen attention of the Public Transport Agency to upgrade the level of services rendered to the public by introducing the best practices and solutions applicable in this field. Bus route maps are important tools for public bus users. They show the routes of public buses, bus stops, and key public bus stations in Dubai. The maps have been designed using simple symbols along with graphics to indicate key areas and milestones in Dubai so that commuters will find it easy to understand the map and select the ideal routes for their destinations.”
He said the work team of the Planning and Business Development Department and Public Buses Department designed and printed circulars and leaflets which were distributed in various locations in Dubai, including public bus stations, so that the public could read them.
The map of public bus routes contains a list of various services on offer at the Public Transport Agency, which are being highlighted in distinctive colour codes; the Green Line represents the Express Bus Service, that is buses which only stop at certain stations. The Blue Line represents the Airport Bus Service, whereas the Black Line stands for ordinary bus routes which cover most areas of Dubai. The Golden Line symbolises Emirates Express Buses; which link the emirate of Dubai with other emirates. The list also contains colours to signify various services provided at bus destinations from the starting point to the terminal point of the route, as well as key stops en route.
